An event eagerly awaited by the public and the trade press: on 8 December 1982 Mercedes-Benz unveiled the W201, marketed as the 190 saloon and without doubt one of the most successful models in the history of Mercedes-Benz. Compact dimensions, low weight and increased economy without losing sight of factors such as driving characteristics, safety and reliability: The successful compact-class saloon set standards and, as the Type 190 and 190 E, added another main line to the traditional Mercedes-Benz passenger car range. While the Type 190 had a carburettor engine that had been throttled down from 109 hp to 90 hp by reducing the size of the intake and exhaust ports and using a new camshaft and modified valves, the 190 E used a newly developed variant with petrol injection. The precision model of the top-of-the-line 190 E is based on the original in the highest detail and enriches any collection. The model car is not only painted in an authentic colour, but also features a detailed representation of the interior. The doors, bonnet and tailgate of the model can be opened and allow a view into the interior of the car. The miniature model is supplied in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging, which includes a screwdriver for easy removal and a glove to protect against fingerprints on the glazing and body.
