In the Kunzmann online shop you will find a wide selection of bike racks for your Mercedes-Benz. Bike racks are indispensable if you want to transport one or more bicycles over longer distances. With a
roof rack, rear rack or towbar rack you can conveniently carry multiple bikes to your desired destination without having to disassemble them. In the Kunzmann online shop you will find a comprehensive range of Mercedes-Benz bike racks.
We offer you
different systems for transporting your bicycle by car. In addition to rear bike racks, which are typically attached to the Mercedes-Benz towbar, you will also find roof bike racks in the Kunzmann online shop.
Unlike roof bike racks,
rear bike racks can be easily mounted on your vehicle’s towbar. Since towbars are standardised,
rear bike racks can be used across different models. That means you can use the rear bike rack on an A-Class, B-Class or C-Class – provided a towbar is fitted. The number of bikes you can carry depends not only on the space available on the rack, but also on the
maximum vertical load of your vehicle’s towbar.
Premium rear bike racks offer a
folding function that not only secures the bikes during transport but also allows unhindered access to the tailgate, even when the bikes are already mounted on the rack.
Rear bike racks have a significant drawback compared to roof bike racks. Often the
driver’s rearward view is
obstructed by the bicycles mounted on the towbar rack. Additionally, the
third brake light can sometimes be
covered by the bikes. If the third brake light is concealed, it may need to be
retrofitted.
If you choose an original roof bike rack for your Mercedes-Benz or VW, you can avoid the aforementioned issues. However,
roof bike racks also have some disadvantages. Mounting bicycles on the roof of your Mercedes-Benz increases the
air resistance when driving, resulting in
higher fuel consumption. Moreover, the
loading of bikes onto the roof can be labourious. Finally, you must consider the additional height added by the mounted bikes when passing under bridges or through underpasses.
